Ice Restaurant
Tucked away in the tranquil setting of Rougham, Bury St Edmunds, Ice Restaurant has become something of a local legend-and for good reason. Located at Unit 1, Lundy Court, Perkins Rd, this cosy yet contemporary eatery strikes a unique balance between modern British charm and laid-back dining culture. Whether you’re a foodie on the hunt for hearty plates or someone who simply enjoys a good cup of cappuccino with some live music in the background, Ice Restaurant delivers on all fronts.
From the moment you walk in, the vibe is instantly inviting. The venue is fully wheelchair-accessible, including the entrance, car park, toilet, and seating areas, making it incredibly welcoming for all guests. There’s also outdoor seating, perfect for sunny afternoons or relaxing weekend brunches. And speaking of brunch-if you’re a breakfast lover, prepare yourself for a treat.
One of the most talked-about items here is the Ice Full English Breakfast. Generous portions, perfectly cooked eggs, and crispy hash browns make it the go-to morning pick-me-up for locals and tourists alike. Prefer something sweet? The Fully Loaded Pancake Stack is an Instagram-worthy tower of goodness-fluffy pancakes layered with fresh toppings and syrup that will have you planning your next visit before you’ve even finished.
Ice Restaurant caters to every dining mood. Whether you're popping in for a quick bite, a lazy lunch, or a cozy dinner, there’s always something that hits the spot. The Brisket Burger is a meaty, juicy wonder, while the Sea Bass and Belly Pork showcase a more elevated, dinner-party-level side of the menu. Vegetarian or vegan? No problem-the Korean BBQ Jackfruit Flatbread is a surprisingly bold and flavorful option that’s won over even the most devout meat-lovers.
They also serve organic dishes and offer healthy options, something not all traditional restaurants in Suffolk manage to pull off. If you're into late-night dining, Ice stays open long enough for you to grab something satisfying after a show or night out.
You won’t want to miss the drinks list here-it’s not just an afterthought. With a great wine list, local beers, and an impressive selection of cocktails, the bar alone could justify your visit. The Espresso Martini is a fan favourite, offering just the right kick, while the Vanilla Mule is a refreshing twist on a classic.
For non-alcoholic choices, the Hot Chocolate is decadently rich, and the Iced Coffee hits the mark during warm afternoons. They also have free water refills, a small but appreciated touch. Tea lovers, rejoice-the tea selection here is top-notch, whether you're in the mood for a strong English Breakfast or something more herbal.
Ice Restaurant thrives not only because of its food and drink but because of the experience. It’s one of the few places in the area that offers live music, creating a lively yet relaxed ambiance that elevates your meal without overwhelming your conversation.
The staff are warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely seem to care about your experience. They’re quick with recommendations, which is helpful given how extensive the menu is-from Cheesy Chips with truffle oil to a light Side Salad for balance. And for those coming solo, it’s an ideal spot for solo dining-quiet enough for work or reading, but with enough bustle to feel part of the scene.
They also offer takeaway if you're on the go, though there's no delivery service-so if you want the full Ice Restaurant vibe, it’s definitely worth stopping in.
In a town filled with pubs and cafés, Ice Restaurant has carved out a niche as a dependable all-day spot that doesn’t compromise on quality. It's not trying to be pretentious or overly curated-it’s just good. Good food, good drinks, good service.
You don’t come here just to eat; you come to relax, connect, and enjoy the little things-like a cup of great coffee, a perfectly crisp onion ring, or the first sip of your favourite cocktail on a Friday evening.
Whether you’re local to Bury St Edmunds or passing through Suffolk, Ice Restaurant is the kind of place you’ll be glad you found.
Reviews
You can tell that a lot of effort and thought went into this place, with a great decor and atmosphere. All staff were unfailingly friendly and welcoming, answering questions and recommending options. Bury has a few nice cafe options, but I would say that this is the current best for food quality and menu twists that set it apart. The burgers offered options not seen elsewhere around here and were very well executed. Well worth a visit, plus they have lots of events to visit.
I visited ICE for the first time a few months ago with a friend of mine for brunch. The atmosphere is great and it has vibrant unique decor which gives it a lovely feel. The staff were pleasant, friendly and attentive. They checked on us throughout the meal to see if we needed anything. The portions were generous and great value for money. We had the hash brown tower which was flavour full and hash browns were very crispy. The pancake stack was also lovely. My friend is vegetarian and it can sometimes be difficult to find good options but there was plenty to choose from. Overall ICE is a great local spot that’s affordable and tasty. I’d definitely recommend and will be back to try lunch / dinner
I love the ambience of this place! The decor is amazing ... so cool and a fun space to be. We went for brunch and I really wanted to love it. And I kind of did. First of all the mint chocolate mocha was a dream. Like worth going back just for that - and ive told my husband about it...and we defo will. The pancake stack with bacon and maple syrup was lovely...but I expected the bacon to be crispy rashers on the top. And they were cut up and in the pancake...and I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it. My friend had the sourdough toast with eggs, hash brown and avo. Looked pretty good and she enjoyed it. I feel like I need to bypass the brunch and go for lunch (which was our original plan)..As i think need to eat a burger there and then update this review. Until then 3 stars...but ill be back with an update
Visited today with my mum & sister for a 50th Birthday Easter Sunday roast. The place is beautiful and I love the decor & the set up. The roast was not good at all. The roast wasn’t what I would call a roast. Pork was nice but the crackling was not crackling. The roast potatoes were not proper roast potatoes and more like a new potatoes that was more fried/lightly roasted. Vegetables were OK. Yorkshire puddings were stone cold and I had to send back to be heated. It was not a fresh roast sadly and more preheated. I’d rate the roast around a 4/10 and wouldn’t return for a roast as I do not feel this is their specialty. Service was standard, not below par or above. Mint chocolate chip milkshake was nice but could be much thicker. Orero sundae desert was nice, I took this away to eat at home as could feel they were looking to finish up….I’d give the experience a 5/10….Would return but most definitely not for a roast.
A Hidden Gem I recently had the pleasure of dining at ICE Restaurant, just outside Bury St Edmunds, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. ICE offers a refreshing blend of relaxed atmosphere and culinary flair that makes it stand out from the crowd, The setting is modern and stylish without being pretentious – perfect for everything from a casual breakfast to a celebratory dinner. I visited for lunch and was impressed by the variety on the menu. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavour. My steak was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying sides were equally delicious. Service was warm and attentive, with staff who clearly care about the guest experience. Overall, ICE Restaurant is a must-visit whether you’re local or just passing through Suffolk. Great food, great vibes, and a team that goes the extra mile – I’ll definitely be back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
